Ready to load up on some information? Lets go!

First up, a 7kg Vented Dryer

So, how does a vented dryer work?

Vented dryers dry your clothes using hot air which collects moisture from your clothes and releases it out of the machine via a vent or ducting. This is the key factor to consider when looking at a vented dryer, as they need to be placed in a location where you can easily vent or duct the air outside the laundry — for example opening a window during operation. If you cannot vent the air, you may find that your laundry walls or surfaces become wet with condensation. On the plus side though, drying is quick and there a range of programs to suit various items of clothing! However, it is important to note that vented dryers operate at high temperatures to dry your clothes so you need to be careful with any delicate clothes and always check the label before placing new clothes your dryer!

Quick Facts

Price / Most affordable
Energy Efficiency / 2 Stars
Care for your clothes / Not as good as a heat pump dryer as they generally operate at higher temperatures. However there are multiple settings to choose from to ensure the drying temperature suits your clothing type.

Most Suitable For

Anyone looking for a low cost clothes dryer that quickly and efficiently dries your clothes. The EVD7 7kg Vented Dryer comes with a wall mounting kit and reversible controls, giving you flexibility in your laundry space. Plus, if you are really tight on space check out the compact VDE45W 4.5kg Vented Dryer too!

Next is our 7kg Condenser Dryer

How does a condenser dryer work?

Condenser dryers use a heating element to heat the drum inside and extract moisture from your clothes. Instead of venting the moist air outside, condenser dryers collect the moisture in a removable tray. You will need to empty the tray manually once it is full, however as you do not need to vent to the outside, condenser dryers can be placed flexibly in your laundry (no open windows during winter!). Drying is slower than a vented dryer but quicker than in a heat pump dryer and as the unit operates at high temperatures you still need to watch out for any clothes that are prone to shrinking.

Quick Facts

Price / Mid range
Energy Efficiency / 2 Stars
Care for your clothes / Not as good as a heat pump dryer as they generally operate at higher temperatures. However there are multiple settings to choose from to ensure the drying temperature suits your clothing type.

Most Suitable For

Anyone who needs a budget friendly dryer but doesn’t have the option to duct it outside, this unit is for you! Plus you get all the same extra features such as delay start and child lock that you get with a Heat Pump Dryer.

Finally, we look at the 7kg Heat Pump Dryer

What actually is a heat pump dryer?

Heat Pump Dryers operate in a similar way to condenser dryers but use a heat pump to heat the air, rather than the drum. The hot air passes through the drum, drying the clothes and removing the moisture which is collected as condensation before the air is reheated and the cycle begins again. Like a condenser dryer, heat pump dryers can be placed anywhere, regardless of ventilation. As the actual drum is not heated there are many benefits of heat pump technology including better care for your clothes and much greater energy efficiency (6 Stars!). It is important to note however that drying is generally slower.

Quick Facts

Price / Most expensive dryer to purchase outright, however the savings on your energy bill make this unit more economical long term!
Energy Efficiency / 6 Stars! Due to the heat pump technology drying is more energy efficient.
Care for your clothes / Best option! Operating at a lower temperature for drying this means your clothes are less likely to shrink or damage during drying.

Most Suitable For

Households that are looking to invest in a dryer. You will get the best care for your clothes and energy efficiency with this one!

Bought this drier as just built a house and have no way to vent. Didnt want to spend loads as just two of us. I’m very surprised how good it is for the money! Totally worth buying and would highly recommend.

Great dryer at a very competitive price. first time using a heat pump dryer and had read some great reviews before purchasing. Have used it now for a few months and we are using it 2-3times a week. Can't find any fault with it and has been one of the best purchases.

Have had this dryer for 12 months now and I will never part with it. So quiet and laundry room is not hot which is one of the reasons we bought it.
